CHilla’s Hiphop Spotlight - Artist of the Day: KID FROST

A man who started off breakin’ and battling the likes of Ice-T, Los Angeles native Kid Frost helped usher in a new era to west coast Hiphop. As the new “gangsta” style music came to fruition in the westcoast, Frost was at the front line with his mellow flow, working-class realism, and his slick yet truthful lyrics.

Kid Frost embodies a similar spirit of the oldies in his music, and represents the Lowrider culture strong. He helped break ethnic barriers in Hiphop, and further pioneered Latinos, particularly Mexicans, to be empowered and shatter through the glass ceiling with music. It would be impossible to discuss Frost without playing this classic from his 1990 debut album Hispanic Causing Panic
